Join ASPE Young Professionals for a dynamic day of networking and leadership development training. The workshop will include a dynamic presentation of the material interwoven with opportunities for table discussions/breakouts, exercises, and application. Breakfast and lunch are included. Limited to 50 registrants 35 years old or younger.

- How to push beyond lazy stereotypes to understand generational and age differences as a valuable form of diversity
- The barriers that often prevent organizations (and individuals) from intergenerational collaboration
- The 4 key practices of Gentelligence and ways to apply them to workplace challenges
- How to have smarter intergenerational conversations
- Objective: See how generational diversity can actually be a superpower
- Takeaway: The multigenerational workplace is not a challenge to be endured, but an opportunity to be seized. When we understand, communicate effectively, and strategically leverage the diverse strengths of each generation, we unlock innovation, enhance problem solving, and build a truly resilient and dynamic work environment.
- Objective: Discuss the underlying issues of various workplace dilemmas and identify the generational conflicts at play. Brainstorm practical, actionable solutions with your group. Consider a few perspectives: HR, Managers, and Individual Contributors.
- Takeaway: Conflict in the workplace is unavoidable, but the key to successful resolutions is understanding how generational differences might contribute to misunderstandings.
- Objective: Look beyond the differences between generations and identify universal values that all of us share.
- Takeaway: To succeed in a harmonious workplace, focus on identifying common stereotypes, then looking beyond these differences. We will focus on giving and receiving constructive feedback and overcoming differences in technology preferences.
- A fun spin on the classic game, we will focus on current events, media, music, books, travel, work, and family life across the five major generations in the workplace.
Discussion Leader
Justin McGlothin, Ed.D., is a certified Gentelligence trainer and passionate educator. His passion is to connect people and leverage strengths to maximize the value of collaboration. He serves as President of Higher Ed Media LLC, a media firm in the education and training industry. Justin’s professional experience includes 20+ years in administrative and executive positions in higher education. These roles have included leadership in student services, finance and accounting, innovation, and people management. Justin is a Professor of Management at the Farmer School of Business at Miami University. He teaches courses in critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication. He serves as a course lead in the First Year Integrated Core and the Assistant Director of Miami PRIME.
