Zurn Elkay’s Expansion of Top-Mount Exposed Sensor Flush Valves Utilizes Ceramic Gear Technology

Zurn Elkay Water Solutions, the industry’s largest supplier of cleaner water solutions for drinking water, hygienic restroom products, and sustainable water management, launched an update to their line of exposed sensor flush valves with new Zurn® Top-Mount Exposed Sensor Flush Valves with Ceramic Gear Technology (ZER6000AV-TM, ZER6003AV-TM). When it comes to lasting performance, this flush valve collection rises above the rest by using ceramic gear technology instead of solenoids. Its winning combination of gear-driven ceramic cartridge operation and an AquaVantage® thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) diaphragm provides superior reliability, precision, and efficiency while outperforming solenoid-operated models for low-maintenance flushing.

“Sensor flush valves are typically operated by finicky solenoids, which need frequent servicing in certain water conditions. Zurn offers reliability as the only gear operated ceramic cartridge flush valve on the market,” says Dan Danowski, Product Manager – Finish Plumbing at Zurn Elkay.

Designed for reliability and easy maintenance, Zurn’s EZ Gear technology utilizes the dual action of a ceramic disc cartridge and motor gear-driven operation to deliver consistent and optimized results. The industry-leading, filtered AquaVantage diaphragm has a clog-resistant bypass. GO BLUE® gaskets and seals are made of chemical-resistant TPE, which lasts eight to 10 times longer than traditional rubber for reduced maintenance and unexpected downtime.

For reliable operation, choose between battery-operated units or hardwired options with battery backup (with the suffix -HW); both versions work even when electricity goes out. The true mechanical override button allows for manual flushing when on-demand operation is needed. An optional 24-hour line flushing feature can be enabled to minimize stagnation and maintain fixture trap seals that protect against sewer gases.

The heavy-duty brass body with polished chrome-plated finish stands up to extreme wear while maintaining luster. The advanced touchless IR sensor activation detects forward and downward for a precisely timed flush and minimizes touchpoints, reducing the potential spread of germs. This design, paired with the modern top-mount style and quiet diaphragm operation, is ideal for new and retrofit commercial restroom applications. All units can be installed to meet ADA compliance and ANSI A117.1 guidelines.

“By incorporating the long-life reliability of the ceramic cartridge technology used in our manual faucets into a sensor flush valve, you’re able to reduce maintenance costs and maintain operation in all water conditions,” notes Bob Carter, Product Manager – Finish Plumbing at Zurn Elkay. “This series gives you built-in reliability for an overall lower total cost of ownership and more uptime for your restroom.”
