New Green Construction Certification Is Released

The International Code Council (ICC) Assessment Center, in collaboration with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), has announced the release of a new International Green Construction Code (IgCC) exam, the Commercial Green Construction Professional (GCP). A certified Commercial Green Construction Professional will:

  • Reinforce societal health/life/safety benefits
  • Lead the way on conserving resources, regenerating sites, and providing economic and societal benefits
  • Provide expertise in resilience through natural disasters, climate change, resource consumption/management, and service interruptions due to unforeseen events

A Green Construction Professional is responsible for plan reviews and project inspections for commercial buildings as it pertains to the International Green Construction Code, in coordination with ASHRAE Standard 189.1. This includes design, construction methods, and practices for siting, green construction materials, aspects of mechanical, electrical and efficiency, and sustainable operation, plans, and reports.
