Mueller Associates, a Baltimore-based mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering firm, is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026 with a series of milestones honoring the firm’s history while looking toward its future, including the relocation of its headquarters to a new office in Linthicum, Maryland.
Founded in Baltimore in 1966, Mueller has spent six decades providing engineering services for cultural, educational, historic, and institutional facilities throughout the Mid-Atlantic and across the country. In August, the firm moved into its new headquarters at 1201 Winterson Road, Suite 300, Linthicum, Maryland, after relocating from 1306 Concourse Drive.
The new workplace reflects Mueller’s continued evolution and investment in its employees, providing a modern, collaborative environment that supports flexibility, teamwork, and the firm’s continued growth.

The headquarters relocation is part of a broader yearlong celebration of Mueller’s 60th anniversary, including an original documentary film series(opens in new tab), the publication of a commemorative book, and a September event bringing together more than a hundred employees, alumni, clients, collaborators, and friends of the firm.
Mueller’s three-part anniversary film series chronicles the firm’s evolution across generations through interviews with current and former employees. The first two chapters, released earlier this year, explore Mueller’s founding, growth, defining projects, workplace culture, and leadership. The third and final installment will premiere during the firm’s anniversary celebration on September 24, 2026.
The celebration will be held at the Performing Arts and Humanities Building at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a facility for which Mueller provided engineering services. The location reflects the firm’s longstanding work with cultural and higher education institutions and provides a fitting backdrop for a celebration centered on Mueller’s history, people, and projects.
The event will also mark the release of Invisible Excellence: Mueller Associates and the Art of Engineering, a 304-page commemorative book published by Baltimore-based Peabody Press that chronicles the firm’s history from its founding in 1966 to today.
Developed through archival research, historic and contemporary photography, project histories, and interviews with current and former employees, Invisible Excellence documents six decades of Mueller’s work while exploring the people and relationships that shaped the firm.
Throughout its history, Mueller has provided engineering services for many nationally and regionally significant institutions, including the Smithsonian Institution, the Washington National Cathedral, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the National Academy of Sciences, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the University of Maryland, Georgetown University, and numerous museums, universities, performing arts organizations, and cultural institutions.
As Mueller enters its seventh decade, the firm continues to build upon that legacy while investing in its people, workplace, and future.
“Our 60th anniversary gives us an opportunity to appreciate the generations of employees, clients, and partners who made Mueller what it is today,” Garing said. “At the same time, this year is very much about the future.
