ASPE Announces Intent to Revise Siphonic Roof Drainage Standard

In accordance with ASPE’s Procedures for Design Standard Development, ASPE announces the initiation of a project to revise ASPE 45: Siphonic Roof Drainage. Last revised in 2018, ASPE 45 is the only design standard that establishes the minimum performance specifications for siphonic roof drainage systems to help manufacturers, engineers, and inspectors properly design and test engineered siphonic roof drainage systems.

About ASPE 45

This system design standard applies to engineered siphonic roof drainage systems intended to prime and operate full bore through proper pipe dimensioning and the use of siphonic roof drains. This standard does not apply to conventional roof drains covered under ANSI/ASTM A112.6.4: Roof Drains, atmospheric roof drainage systems, or sanitary drainage systems. It establishes minimum performance specifications for systems, provides guidelines for inspection and testing, and describes the basis for the design of siphonic roof drain systems.

For more information on this proposed new standard, contact ASPE’s Director of Communications, Marketing & Publications, Gretchen Pienta, at [email protected].

A Project Initiation Notification System (PINS) was published in ANSI’s Standards Action on June 30, 2023, with a PINS response end date of July 30, 2023.
