American Water Works Association Celebrates Drinking Water Week 2023

Drinking Water WeekThe American Water Works Association (AWWA) and partners throughout North America kicked off Drinking Water Week, a decades-long tradition led by the AWWA. Taking place May 7–13 this year, Drinking Water Week is a celebration recognizing the vital role water plays everyday in our communities.

AWWA recognizes Drinking Water Week by inviting the public to learn about the importance of clean, safe water in daily life and its role in protecting public health and the environment now and in the future. This year, AWWA encourages participants to honor the critical work that water professionals accomplish around the clock to deliver quality tap water while bolstering resilience for water in the future.

“Access to clean, safe drinking water is vital to our daily health, hygiene, and hydration,” said AWWA CEO David LaFrance. “Water professionals work tirelessly to ensure we have affordable and high-quality water to support our communities today and in the future.”

To commemorate the week, water utilities, water consultants and manufacturers, government entities, environmental advocates, schools, and others throughout North America and beyond are encouraging consumers to learn more about the importance of water services and water infrastructure.
