Aliaxis Acquires OptiRTC, a Specialist in Intelligent Stormwater Solutions

Aliaxis SA, a world leader enabling access to water and energy through inventive fluid management solutions, has announced that it has completed the acquisition of OptiRTC Inc. (Opti), a U.S.-based company specializing in software for intelligent stormwater solutions.

Through this acquisition, Aliaxis is strengthening its ability to provide solutions for one of the world’s major water-related challenges: flooding and safely managing excess of water. In the last five years, communities in the United States alone have faced unprecedented rainfall during extreme weather events with more than $400 billion in devastating flood damages. Moreover, the urban stormwater runoff is a growing source of water pollution due to combined sewage overflows and under-dimensioned stormwater retention basins.

Opti’s cloud-based software engine leverages weather forecasts and input from field-deployed sensors to automatically control operated valves, which allows freeing space for expected excess of water in advance of stormy weather.

“By investing in the digital realm of stormwater management, our ambition is to create real societal impact and bring solutions globally that can protect people, homes, and land from the consequences of extreme weather,” Eric Olsen, CEO of Aliaxis says. “Opti has defined the industry standards of Continuous Monitoring and Adaptive Control (CMAC) for stormwater solutions and has successfully managed over 400 million liters of water so far, thanks to its network across the United States. “

“We are looking forward to working with our new colleagues at Opti in the quest for creating positive societal impact and expanding the offering of the smart stormwater solutions,” Fredrik Östbye, Head of Aliaxis Next says. “With the acquisition of Aquarius Spectrum earlier this year, Aliaxis Next is taking another big step in delivering its promise for improved water management.”

The financial details of this agreement will not be disclosed.
