Has anyone ever asked you "What is ASPE?" and you didn't know where to begin? Have you ever wondered what ASPE is? 2018 ASPE Convention & Expo registration opens on Monday!
In addition to our famous Expo and top-notch technical education program, this year we also are offering a Women of ASPE Leadership Forum and Care for a Cause with the Girl Scouts of Atlanta, a Green Plumbing Design workshop, a golf outing at Stone Mountain Golf Club, an ASPE Young Professionals networking social at Top Golf, and a reception for first-time attendees, among other exciting features. Women of ASPE scholarship will help a deserving member attend the 2018 Convention & Expo
WOA is accepting applications for a scholarship that will cover full registration to the Convention & Expo, any special events, roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, airport transportation, and meals, as well as a one-year membership renewal. To be eligible, an applicant must be an ASPE member in good standing and part of WOA.

Basic plumbing design workshop is being held in Chicago on June 14–15
During this class attendees will delve into the design of storm drainage, natural gas, domestic cold and hot water, and sanitary sewer systems, as well as learn how to properly coordinate these utilities with architects and structural engineers. The workshop offers 1.2 CEUs, lunch, and snacks, and registration is available at aspe.org/BasicsWorkshop.

Our popular Revit MEP workshop travels to Charlotte in June
This one-day, hands-on workshop on June 29 will teach intermediate users how to optimize project workflows to design functional and graphically pleasing plumbing systems in Revit MEP. Attendees will earn 0.75 CEUs, and you can register at aspe.org/revit2018.

$472.6 billion is needed to maintain the country's drinking water infrastructure
A majority of that, $312.6 billion, is to replace or refurbish aging or deteriorating pipelines, and $83 billion is to construct, expand, or rehabilitate infrastructure to reduce contamination, according to the sixth national Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey. More>>

Philadelphia turns to green infrastructure to tackle stormwater runoff
Rather than spending nearly $10 billion on a new 30-mile-long tunnel, the city is investing an estimated $2.4 billion to construct a network of rain gardens, green roofs, wetlands, and other green infrastructure to reduce combined sewer overflows by 85 percent. More>>

New model shows how bacteria grow in plumbing systems
Rather than reproducing the conditions of a stagnant plumbing system within a lab setting, University of Illinois researchers sampled dormitory tap water before and after a school break to determine the extent of microbe growth inside in-premise pipes. More>>
