This one-hour seminar will provide Plumbing Engineers and Designers, Code Officials, Plumbing Contractors and Building Facility and Maintenance personnel with an in-depth technical look at the applications typically seen in various types of laboratories and a fair comparison of the five different piping systems currently manufactured to ASTM standards that address chemical or “special” waste. This webinar will provide participants with a greater understanding of the applications, the capabilities of the various materials available for use in the systems and the chance to ask questions of the presenter. Topics include:
- A review of the types of applications typically encountered
- The types of labs and design considerations for each including Chemistry, Biology, Microbiological and Industrial Chem-Process

The Presenter: Vic Hines, CPD, LEED AP
Vic Hines joined Charlotte Pipe and Foundry in 2005 as a Senior Field Technical Representative, where he covers the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and New England states primarily calling on consulting engineers, code officials and facility personnel. Vic provides technical information and training on cast iron soil pipe and fittings and a variety of plastic pressure and drainage piping systems. He also assists Charlotte Pipe’s Sale Department in providing technical training to Sales Reps, plumbing contractors and wholesale distributors.
Vic has been involved in the pipe, valve, fitting and plumbing industry since 1975. He was the former President of Virginia Plastic Pipe & Valve Co., Inc. and was co-founder and first President of Delta Pure Filtration Corp.
Vic currently serves the plumbing industry in a variety of volunteer capacities. He sits on the Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute (CISPI) Technical Committee and serves on ASTM A04, F17, E05 and E60 committees. Vic has also been a member of the Richmond, VA Chapter of ASPE for more than 20 years.
Vic earned a Certified in Plumbing Design designation from the American Society of Plumbing Engineers in 1996 and has been a USGBC LEED® Accredited Professional since 2008. He has a B.S. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
