The main objective of the seminar is to review the various strategies utilized in the design and implementation of high efficiency domestic hot water (DHW) heating. The topics will include gas-fired condensing water heating as well as an in-depth look at combination system technologies. There will be a detailed discussion on DHW storage utilization and the impact on overall system efficiency. The seminar will also expand upon the role of sequencing & controls as well as code impacts and key considerations required for proper system design and integration. The culmination of this discussion will result in a better understanding of the various options available in DHW heating and which methods and techniques lend themselves to developing a high efficient DHW system.

Learning objectives include: 

  • Gain a thorough understanding of condensing technology and the benefits associated with this approach (gas-fired DHW heating)
  • Understand the impact DHW storage has on overall system efficiency, especially when it comes to gas-fired, condensing DHW production

The Presenter: Sean Dabroski, LEED AP

dabroskiAs a member of the engineering department at GA Fleet Associates, Sean is responsible for working with consulting engineers on the design of mechanical and plumbing systems throughout New York City and the surrounding boroughs. The concentration includes condensing boilers & water heaters, pumping systems, gas booster applications and venting & combustion air system designs. Sean’s previous experience was with AERCO International (2006 – 2013) where he worked as an Application Engineer and also a Regional Manager. AERCO International specializes in the design and manufacturing of high efficiency, condensing gas-fired boilers and water heaters.

Emphasis is placed on developing and educating the market on the latest in high efficiency boiler/heater developments and applications through presentations which address the hydronic heating and domestic water segments of the industry.

Sean has performed educational presentations for ASPE and ASHRAE as well as numerous consulting engineering firms across the East Coast and Eastern Canada. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University – Watson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Sean is also a LEED Accredited Professional.
