2017 ASPE Technical Symposium standard rate ends today
To avoid a $50 late fee, you must register today at 2017tech.aspe.org. What will you gain by attending? Special events registration deadline has been extended to September 30
If you are planning on attending the 2017 AYP Leadership Academy, AYP Networking Event, the Intermediate Plumbing System Design workshop, or a tour of Montreal's wastewater treatment facility—all being held during the 2017 ASPE Technical Symposium—you still have time to sign up at 2017tech.aspe.org. On-site registration will not be available for any special events.

ASPE's room block at the Hotel Bonaventure Montreal is 80 percent sold, and the special ASPE rate ends on September 20. Once ASPE's rooms have been exhausted, attendees will be responsible for their own housing. You can reserve your room at Hotel Bonaventure Reservations.

ASPE welcomes new Friend Sponsors

ASPE seeks presenters for the 2018 Convention & Expo
If you want to share your knowledge and design experience with others in the plumbing industry who are eager to learn, then you need to submit a proposed presentation for the 2018 ASPE Convention & Expo taking place in Atlanta on September 28 to October 3. The Education Committee is accepting proposals until January 15, 2018, and chosen presenters will be notified by May 1. You can learn more and submit your presentation at aspe.org/callforpresenters.

ASPE Chapters are planning fall networking events to help local plumbing industry professionals connect
On September 14, ASPE's Philadelphia Chapter is holding a golf outing, on September 16, the Los Angeles Chapter is hosting an overnight picnic, and on October 20, the Central Ohio Chapter is holding a sporting clays outing. CDC seeks help in efforts to prevent Legionnaires' disease in the United States
The CDC is developing best practices for creating and implementing a water management plan to prevent disease due to waterborne pathogens and is looking for input on a list of questions related to this topic. Comments will be accepted until October 17. More>>

It's World Water Week
Organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), World Water Week is an annual event that focuses on global water issues, and this year the theme is "water and waste: reduce and reuse." You can learn more and follow this year's activities at worldwaterweek.org.

Drinking water tax is proposed in California
The tax would be used to clean up contaminated groundwater and fix public water systems, but it is opposed by water agencies who say the bill would turn them into state tax collectors. More>>

Proposed changes to Ontario's building code would encourage graywater reuse
Other amendments would require apartment buildings and condominiums to have a heat or energy recovery unit and new houses and large buildings to have roof designs and conduits that facilitate future solar technology installation.
